Talk: Queering Artistic Feedback
Hvernig skal styðja við listafólk sem upplifir sjálft sig eða verk sín sem hinsegin? Hvers konar faglegar umræður um listsköpun þess gagnast best? Hvernig finnum við og römmum inn nýjar aðferðir til þess að veita endurgjöf sem styður við, nærir og valdeflir einstaklinga en einnig samfélögin og samskiptanetin sem þeir tilheyra?
Í þessum fyrirlestri mun Szymon varpa ljósi á þann lærdóm sem draga má af langtíma viðleitni til að beita hinsegin nálgun við listræna endurgjöf. Sú viðleitni fer fram á vettvangi á vegum Amsterdam University of the Arts sem nefnist In Pursuit of Otherwise Possibilities. Með tveimur hópum hinsegin, trans og kynsegin lista- og fræðifólks í Amsterdam hefur verið rýnt í hinsegin kenningar og aðferðir við listræna endurgjöf. Nálgunin hverfist um að skapa styðjandi samfélag þar sem fólk lærir saman, nýtir sér hinsegin-femíníska hugsun og forðast tilhneigingar til áníðslu og flokkadrátta í menntakerfinu.
Viðburðinn er samstarf Reykjavík Dance Festival og Listaháskóla Íslands.
Um listamanninn
Szymon Adamczak (PL/NL) er dramatúrg, skáld og sviðslistamaður sem vinnur þvert á listgreinar. Hann hefur mikinn áhuga á HIV-tengdri menningu og þverþjóðlegum hinsegin aktívisma. Szymon nam við DAS Theatre og tekur nú þátt í THIRD, rannsóknarverkefni fyrir lista- og fræðifólk á vegum DAS Research. Szymon hefur áhuga á umbreytingarmætti samfunda, að valdefla nemendur með hinsegin kennslufræðum og samtvinnun listsköpunar og borgaralegrar þátttöku. Ásamt Elioa Steffen stýrir hann In Pursuit of Otherwise Possibilities (IPOP) sem er vettvangur til þess að skoða hvernig menntastofnanir geta hlúð að hinsegin listafólki og sköpun þess.

Talk: Queering Artistic Feedback
How do we support artists who understand themselves or their work as queer? What kind of professional communication about their practice is relevant to them? How can we reposition and reframe ways of offering feedback to support, nourish and empower individuals as much as the communities and ecologies of exchange they are part of?
In this talk, Szymon will bring into perspective insights from long-term engagement with queering artistic feedback organized by a platform In Pursuit of Otherwise Possibilities in the context of Amsterdam University of the Arts. In a communal setting, with two cohorts of queer, trans and non-binary artists and researchers from Amsterdam, we have been exploring theories and methodologies of queering performance feedback. Our approach promotes a sense of caring co-learning community that brings queer-feminist principles to work, while resisting extractive and identitarian tendencies in education.
This event is a collaboration between Reykjavík Dance Festival and The Iceland University of the Arts.
About the artist
Szymon Adamczak (PL/NL) is a dramaturg, writer, theatre and performance maker working across disciplines. He has a vital interest in HIV-related culture and transnational queer activism. Alum of DAS Theatre and a current fellow of THIRD, a program for artist-researchers offered by DAS Research. Szymon is interested in the transformative potential of encounters, empowerment by queer-ing pedagogy and the proximity of artistic practice and civic engagement. Together with Elioa Steffen, he is bi-vocally running In Pursuit of Otherwise Possibilities (IPOP), a platform exploring how educational institutions can better foster queer artists and practices.
