this is it is an intimate and exposing solo work that takes as it's starting point both the secrets and the surface of Steinunn's own self–image. Thinking aloud – naming what she thinks and feels is there – she makes a version of herself appear – comparing and analyzing herself up against the expectations and ideals of her and her audience.

The research started in the summer of 2013 during a residency at Kunstlerhus Lukas in Ahrenshoop, Germany.  The process continued in Iceland throughout the winter and resumed in Copenhagen, Denmark and Bassano di Grappa in Italy in June and July.  The work was shown in progress at Vinnslan in Tjarnarbíó, Reykjavík in March this year and will be shown again in progress at Plattform at Dansstationen in Malmö in June.

The piece is supported by the Ministry of Education and Culture, Reykjavík City and the Reykjavík Dance Atelier.
