A LECTURE ON BORDERLINE MUSICALS

This event is a lecture on borderline musicals where their mysteries will be revealed and their topic will be dissected to the bone. With sincerity Erna and Valdimar invite you to join them in their quest to find the core of this exciting innovative genre.
They will introduce you to personalities that are deeply immersed in it, such as MC Multiple Personality Disorder and Putrid Sapphire. The Duo Lazyblood will play a few songs and the dance company Shalala will strut their stuff. A few critical moments in the history of the borderline musical will be re enacted and or renewed with a hint of the supernatural.
The show was premiered during Reykjavík Dance Festival's August edition – and is back due to the fact that its very awesome.

Shalala was formed in 2007 around the works of the choreographer Ernu Ómarsdóttir and the musician Valdimar Jóhannsson and their collaborators. Among Shalala performances are " We Saw Monsters", “ The Talking Tree”, “Teach us to Outgrow our Madness”, “Digging in the sand with only one hand”, "Lazyblood", “To the bone” and The Black Yoga screaming chamber. Shalala is now based in Iceland but their works are performed widely in Europe and further afield. Erna is one of Iceland´s most successful choreographers and performers and has worked with some of the most prominent performance groups in Europe, like Ballet C de la B, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Jan Fabre among others. She has also created pieces for the Icelandic Dance Company and for Chunky Move in Melbourne, Australia. Valdimar has created music for the Icelandic Dance Company, Kris Verdonck and 2 Dogs Company and Gabríela Friðriksdóttir
